Enterprise Homelab

Welcome to my Enterprise Homelab! This setup is designed for high performance, reliability, and scalability, featuring a robust network infrastructure and powerful servers — and it never stops evolving.

Network Infrastructure

Internet comes in from Cox through a UniFi Cable Internet (UCI) modem into the heart of the network: a UniFi Enterprise Fortress Gateway (EFG) firewall over a 2.5GbE link. The EFG handles advanced security and routing for everything downstream.

From the firewall, a 10Gb SFP+ uplink feeds the UniFi Aggregation Switch ("Rack - Core Switch") — the 10Gb backbone every major device hangs off:

  • Both TrueNAS servers (Lenovo P910 ×2) via 10Gb SFP+
  • The UNVR (UniFi Network Video Recorder) via 10Gb SFP+, running UniFi Protect with G3 Instant and G4 Instant cameras
  • A UniFi Enterprise 24 PoE switch via 10Gb SFP+, which connects to:
    • USP PDU Pro (via FE)
    • AP U7 Pro Max (via 2.5 GbE)
  • A UniFi Enterprise 8 PoE switch in the attic via 10Gb SFP+, which connects to:
    • AP U6 Enterprise In-Wall (via 2.5 GbE)
    • AP U7 Pro Wall (via 2.5 GbE)

The three access points — a WiFi 7 U7 Pro Max at the rack, a U7 Pro Wall in the game room, and a U6 Enterprise In-Wall — blanket the property in fast wireless.

The entire network stack is powered by the UniFi Power Distribution Pro PDU, which is in turn plugged into one of two APC 1500 VA Lithium UPS units. These UPS units also provide uninterrupted power to the servers, ensuring continuous operation.

Servers

The compute side is a matched pair of Lenovo P910 workstations repurposed as TrueNAS servers. The second P910 recently replaced my old P720 — I liked the first one that much.

The rack isn't done growing. Two more machines are on the way in:

  • Datto rack server loaded with 24 × 2TB SATA SSDs — an all-flash array
  • Dell PowerEdge T630 with 8 × 18TB HDDs — serious bulk storage
